Pastis Tour

« Alcohol is the anesthesia by which we endure the operation of life.» George Bernard Shaw

Discover how ‘Petit Jaune’, another name for pastis, is made

Discover how ‘Petit Jaune’, another name for pastis, is made
Take a stroll up the hill and discover the traditional distillation methods used to make Pastis, a typical aniseed-flavored drink from the south of France. Come and visit a craftsman’s workshop and enjoy a tasting of organic pastis and syrups accompanied by a platter of regional goat’s and ewe’s milk cheeses.

Program

First, follow us on a botanical walk along a wide path accessible to sporty strollers and all terrain wheelchairs. In the heart of the garrigue (scrublands), on the Montaiguet hill, come and admire the panoramic view of Mont Sainte-Victoire, Sainte-Baume mountain range, the Roquefavour aqueduct and the Chaîne de l’Etoile hills.

Discover and identify the plants used to distil pastis : calament mint, thyme, rosemary and bay tree sauce.

Then visit the GARAGAI pastis distillery and learn about the distillation and maceration process with the producer.
The icing on the cake is a tasting of cheese, home-made syrups and pastis.
