Ochre quarries in Pays d’Apt
Set off with your guide to discover the Pays d’Apt, between Vaucluse and Luberon, along the Sentier des Ocres (Ochre Trail), bordering the village of Roussillon, on a public, signposted route, whose red-orange scenery evokes the landscapes of the Grand Canyon.
Follow a guided tour about the geology and history of the ochre range, from which the sea retreated some 100 million years ago.

Program
The trail begins with a panoramic landscape viewing platform, then follows the path through the ochre quarries, with a total of 350 steps along the way.
For a couple of hours, discover these pastel landscapes of red clay rock, shaped for centuries by wind and erosion, and profoundly transformed by the hand of man. It’s a totally exotic journey through a multicoloured palette.
At the end of this picturesque itinerary, discover the village of Roussillon, with its ochre-red facades, ranked as one of France’s most beautiful villages.
